this is going to be short. i’m not super opinionated on terminals or their fancy features like tabs, panes, gpu acceleration, image rendering, or high-res video with dolby audio (are we doing that?). i barely care. as long as it has some sane defaults and is fast, i’m okay.

xterm do not have sane defaults. if you’re in the middle of typing a command and decide to copy some text (ctrl+shift+c) from previous output, the current command exits. so now you have to type it again. something similar happens with urxvt. nope.

few options after filtering my so called sane default criteria were st, kitty and alacritty. now i just need to pick fast one. lucky for me, i found a blog by fabian beuke that tests exactly that, and i just took their word for it. thank you mr. fabian.

so, i went with st with custom settings.

well, it was not all roses. i had to compile it from source. but, okay no big deal.
